Forcible ejection of the stomach through the moth is called vomiting. In Ayurveda, it is known as chhardi. Vomiting is not diseases, but it is symptoms of many conditions like pregnancy, medication, stress, mental worries, food poisoning, infections, overeating, brain tumor, brain injury, and ulcers.

In Ayurveda, vomiting is classified into five categories, vataja, pittaja, kaphaja, tridoshaja and samyyogaja. Vataja type of vomiting is followed by dryness of mouth, astringent taste in mouth and pain in chest. In pittaj type, there is burning sensation and sour eructation. Kaphaj type of vomiting is followed by slime in the vomited material. In tridoshaja type of vomiting, signs and symptoms of all the above mentioned three types of appear. The fifth type is caused by food poisoning and there is always nausea and a foul smell from the mouth.

Pippali, yashtimadhu, karanja are some useful herbs in ayurveda for vomiting.
