It is a highly infectious diseases characterised by the catarrh of the respiratory passages and a widespread eruption on the skin. In Ayurveda it is known as romantika.
It usually appears during spring and autumn. Patient gets cough, cold and fever in the beginning of this diseases. The eyes become red, followed by drowsiness, anorexia and even diarrhoea. Eruptions start from the forehead and they are small and red. In about 3 to 4 days, this spread all over the body. When the eruption fully disappears, the fever comes down and other symptoms like cough and cold also disappear.
Prawal pishti, swarnamakshik bhasma and kasturi bhirav ras are very useful ayurvedic tratment for measles.
