Ayurvedic Treatment of LeucodermaAyurvedic Treatment of Leucoderma

This disease is characterised by localised loss of pigmentation of the skin. According to Ayurveda this is caused by some morbidity in the live which results in the deficient production of pitta. These white patches of leucoderma often go without any physical trouble. It creates a great deal of worry to the patient suffering from it because it disfigures him. This disease is also hereditary. There is a social stigma against this disease. In Ayurveda, this is a type of kushtha.

At times these skin patches become reddish brown, and small eruptions appear over them. They cause itching which is followed by watery exudation and burning sensation. Leucoderma appearing in the joint of skin and mucous membrane is difficult to cure. This disease is also difficult to be treated when it appears in old persons.

Bakuchi, Neem, Haridra, Manjistha and Turmeric are useful drugs for leucoderma.
