Spitting of blood while coughing is called haemoptysis. Haemoptysis originates from the respiratory track below the level of the larynx. This is primarily caused by such diseases as tuberculosis and cancer of the lungs. In Ayurveda, it is included in the group of urdhvaga rakta pitta. The patient spits blood while coughing. Sometimes blood is accompanied with mucus.
Prawal poshti and Basant malti ras are used in Haemoptysis.
Hot and spice thing should be avoided in this condition and patient should be given moong,old rice, masur, amlaki, promegranate and cow’s milk. Patient should take complete rest.
