Ayurvedic Treatment of Epilepsy

A neurological disorder marked by sudden recurring attacks of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated electrical activity in the brain. There are two main types of strokes. Generalized stroke affect the whole brain and Partial stroke affect one part of the brain. A mild stoke may be difficult to recognize. It can only a few seconds during which you loss awareness. But stronger stroke can cause spasms and uncontrollable muscle contractions, and can end a few seconds to several minutes. During a stronger stroke some people become confused or lose consciousness. End of matter you may have no memory of it happening. In several conditions you might have a stroke like high fever, low blood sugar, head trauma and alcohol extraction.

In Ayurveda it is known as apasmara. Depending upon the dominance of doshas, there are four types of apasmara, vata, pitta, kapha and their combined form and the fifth type is known yoshapasmara or hysteria.

Shankhapuspi, bramhi, vacha, yashtimadhu, jatamansi, amalki, rasna, lashuna, hingu and kushta are herbs for epilepsy. Bramhi ghrita, panchagavya ghrita, saraswatarishta, bramhi rasayan are useful ayurvedic formulation for epilapsy.
