An Acute, severe attack of abdominal pain is known as colic pain. Depending upon the cause of pain, it is of several types. The common causes of colic pain are kidney stone, appendicitis, gallstone, duodenal and gastric ulcer and inflammation of the ovary and liver and intestinal spasm. In Ayurveda it is called shula. It is mainly related with Vata.
Colic pain may appear all of sudden or slowly. Digestion and appetite are normally affected. Others signs and symptoms very depending upon the organ or part of the body affected.
Hingvastaka churna, lausanadi vati, shankha bhashma, mahashankha vati, abharaka bhashma are very effective ayurvedic formulations for colic pain.
